Looking for the bestTamar Valley accommodation? Then I’ve got you covered!

Whether you are looking for Tamar Valley winery accommodation or Tamar Valley luxury accommodation, this beautiful region in northern Tasmania has plenty of options.

In case you are not familiar with the area, The Tamar Valley is known for its stunning natural beauty, cool climate wines, and fresh produce.

Located along the picturesque Tamar River, which winds its way through the valley, it is famous for its wineries and vineyards, which produce some of Australia’s best Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Riesling.

Visitors to the area can take wine tours, visit various cellar doors, and sample a range of terrific wines from several different boutique and family-owned wineries.

Indeed, not so long ago, I stayed in Launceston for four nights and visited wineries all over Tamar Valley, including the Small Wonders Wines and Hinton Bay Vineyard – which were my favourites. I had an amazing time doing this and I highly recommend you do the same if you are a wine lover like me.

Aside from wine, the Tamar Valley is known for its fresh produce, most notably apples, berries, cherries, and apricots. Much of which you can buy throughout the region, at the many different farmers’ markets and roadside stalls where visitors can also purchase locally artisanal cheeses, bread, and other gourmet foods.

Other Tamar Valley things to do include checking out museums, galleries, and historic places like George Town which is one of Australia’s oldest continuously occupied settlements.

Also, you can visit the Narawntapu National Park which offers hiking, boating, kayaking and camping along its rugged coastline, as well as is home to diverse wildlife, including kangaroos, wallabies, and echidnas.

To see all this you’ll probably need to book accommodation in Tamar Valley. And that’s why I am glad you are reading this.

Tasmania Travel Planning Guide

Is it safe to rent a car in Tasmania?

Absolutely, it is safe to rent a car in Tasmania. In fact, renting a car in Tasmania is the best way to see and explore the island.

You can make a very scenic lap of Tasmania in 10 days with your own rental vehicle. Plus public transportation between major tourist hubs in Tasmania is relatively limited.

What is the best way to book my Tasmania accommodation?

I always use booking.com for all of my accommodation worldwide, and Tasmania is no exception. I stayed in some really epic places on my adventure around the island.

For more cozy apartment-style accommodation try VRBO (better and safer than Airbnb).

Heck yes! Tasmania has some of the cleanest tap water in the world. Outside of a few small rural areas where this might not be the case, I really enjoyed drinking straight from the tap in Tasmania.

If you plan to do a lot of hiking in Tasmania, I recommend bringing my favourite self-filtering water bottle with you, just in case.

What are the best day tours in Tasmania?

Taking a day tour in and around Tasmania is a must when visiting the island.
