LUXURY EAST BALI ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS
Looking to splurge for your stay in Sidemen Valley? These are my top recommendations for a luxury stay.

Camaya Bali
Located in Selat, just a few minutes north of the Sidemen Valley, on the side of a ravine with flowing river and rice fields, is Camaya Bali. Undoubtedly one of the most popular destination villas in the whole of Bali.
Camaya is home to 4 individual bamboo villas and 1 traditional Balinese dwelling. The bamboo villas are where you will want to be and consist of the Suboya (the original), Butterfly, Pyramid, and Lotus houses. The construction is mainly bamboo and each villa has a unique offering.
You will undoubtedly want to get the classic hanging net shot here, so I would opt to book the Suboya house. It comes complete with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms including a fantastic outdoor shower, firepit, pool, and picturesque kitchen area.

Samanvaya Luxury Resort and Spa
The luxury adult-only resort of Samanvaya is located in the heart of the Sidemen Valley. The property is made up of individual air-conditioned bungalow style accommodations, 2 infinity pools, cocktail bar, restaurant, yoga shala and spa. The service here is also impeccable. Samanvaya is one of my favourite places to stay in Sidemen Bali.
The bungalows come equipped with a mini bar, fridge, outdoor bathroom, cozy and comfortable beds and a small porch. As this is a luxury resort, the quality of the amenities are top notch. They also offer guided excursions to local waterfalls and rice fields.
Grab a cocktail at the bar at sunset and muse over the rice fields right out front of the resort. The cocktails are strong so beware! Then, book yourself a spa treatment, I recommend the Balinese massage and facial, and head off to lalaland.

The resort also offers a lounge + bar, and a special local cooking class experience can be arranged with reception. An open-air spa overlooking the rice fields also offers the quintessential flower bath Instagram moment. This East Bali accommodation has a lovely wedding venue, as well.

Want the combination of Balinese hospitality and an epic view of Mount Agung? Patal Kikian Villas is your place. The individual deluxe villas here are constructed in a traditional Joglo style with Javanese wood and concrete features.

Laputa ‘Bamboo Castle in the Sky’ Villa
Welcome to the best view in Bali and one of the top places to stay in Sidemen Bali. Laputa is a full bamboo construction built by a Japanese architect. Laputa means ‘castle in the sky’ in Japanese which is a perfect way to describe this villa.
The views from Laputa are absolutely epic. They consist of unobstructed views of Mount Agung, the entire Sidemen Valley, all of east Bali towards the southern coastline, and even the Bukit Peninsula. The villa has 270-degree views. Sunrise over the volcano and sunset over the peninsula are breathtaking.
The villa itself features a central open-air living room, with 2 separate open-air bedrooms. In true Balinese fashion, the bathroom is situated outdoors and has a shower.
Since this villa is located on the top of a mountain, the trip up is very steep. If you come on a scooter, one person may need to walk the distance if you have heavy luggage. There is also staff on hand to assist with this.
Indonesian food is served from a local warung and can be made to order whenever you please.

ESSENTIALS FOR YOUR EAST BALI TRIP
With any trip, it’s always a good idea to prepare and bring a few items that will make your experience better. Here are my recommendations:
DAY PACK | I travel with my WANDRD backpack, it comes with a compartment for your camera and tons of space for all your other goodies
MIRRORLESS CAMERA | If you want to invest in something other than your camera phone (the newest phones have great cameras by the way), I purchased the Sony A7iii with a Sigma 24-70mm 2.8 lens. Couldn’t be happier.
REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE | Let’s help save our planet from plastic pollution and carry around a reusable water bottle instead. I love my Swell water bottle as it stays cold for 24 hours and is lightweight. A LARQ water bottle would also fit the bill and has water purifying technology built right in.
