Where to Stay in Nusa Penida – For Every Budget

where to stay in nusa penida atuh beach
Atuh Beach

White sand beaches, epic viewpoints, lush jungle, and unique stays await you on Nusa Penida! The island is located 30 minutes off the southeast tip of Bali’s mainland and if you are wondering where to stay in Nusa Penida, well I have you covered.

This guide has all the information you’ll need to make the most of your trip to Nusa Penida, including an overview of each region and what there is to see, and Nusa Penida accommodation to suit every traveler and budget.

There are quite a few tour companies offering full-day trips to Nusa Penida Bali to see the highlights of the island. These are great, but if you have more time, I would highly recommend you stay 3-5 days, like I did, to properly explore the charm, culture, and beautiful sights of Nusa Penida.

The island takes about 1 hour to cross from tip to tip, so for staying in hotels in Nusa Penida, I’d suggest moving from region to region during your trip, so your Nusa Penida experience is more epic sightseeing than sitting in transit.

Kelingking Beach

Where to stay in Nusa Penida is broken down into regions:

North Nusa Penida

The most populated region of Nusa Penida and where Toya Pakeh Harbour is located. This area is great for luxury seekers, one-night stays, couples, and island hoppers.

West Nusa Penida

Attractions like Kelingking Beach and Angel’s Billabong are located along the west coastline of Nusa Penida. A bit more rugged on this side of the island with the majority of Nusa Penida accommodations concentrated at Crystal Bay Beach.

Southeast Nusa Penida

The most remote part of the island can be found in the southeast region of Nusa Penida. Diamond Beach and the famous Rumah Pohon tree house can be found here, making it a must-visit area for at least one night. Because of its lack of infrastructure, budget Nusa Penida hotels and villas are most plentiful here.

Northeast Nusa Penida

This is the spot for you if you want to laze away on the beach, sip cocktails and eat at trendy cafes. People seeking relaxation, quiet island life, and longer stays tend to gravitate towards the northeastern coastline of Nusa Penida. Hotels in Nusa Penida Northeast are a mix of unique stays and resort town charm.

The highest concentration of hotels in Nusa Penida is found here, with options from luxury traditional hotels to budget backpacker Nusa Penida accommodations. They can be found all along the Nusa Penida’s coastline and slightly inland.
