There is no shortage of boutique hotels in Prague. From quirky nooks hidden down inconspicuous side streets to grand statement buildings on the corners of fashionable shopping avenues, the wide variety of unique hotels in Prague is a testament to the long history the city has of welcoming discerning travellers.

The Czech capital is brimming with gorgeous architecture, recalling its past as a residence for Bohemian monarchs, Holy Roman Emperors and Habsburg rulers.

On the other hand, you might prefer to reside outside of the main tourist haunts, in more suburban but still well-connected neighbourhoods.

For first-time visitors, the Stare Mesto (Old Town) is the best location to stay in Prague. Not only will you find yourself waking up to gothic churches and baroque mansions right at your front door, but you’ll also have a broad selection of restaurants, beer halls and cafes to choose from.

Josefov

Just to the north of the Old Town is Josefov, the former Jewish quarter. Squeezed into a modest area, much of the higgledy-piggledy housing was torn down a century ago. 

Thankfully, a handful of old synagogues remain, in particular, the Spanish Synagogue with its dazzling interiors, making it one of the best places to stay in Prague for history buffs.

Hradcany (Castle District)

Across the Charles Bridge to the west, Hradcany is also known as the Castle District. It’s here you’ll find one of the largest castle complexes in the world, including the iconic St. Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace and the 10th-century St. George’s Basilica. For romantic views, this is definitely among the best neighbourhoods in Prague.

Letna & Holesovice
